Make a Topic Private
Have a way to make a topic private, accessible to selected invited users.
Hi,
Following our tests of the private feature with selected users which started a few months ago, we are now extending the availability of this option as a premium option to our Scoop.it Business plan.
Privacy is implemented by restricting access through either one of the following methods:
1. Password protection: readers won’t need a Scoop.it account to read your topic but will need to know the password from you.
2. email address restriction: readers will need to have a Scoop.it account with an authorized email address among a list you will define.
3. domain name restriction: readers will need to have a Scoop.it account with an email address from an authorized Web domain among a list you will define.
You will be free of using whichever method suits you best and also change between methods at any point in time. You will be also free to mix private and public topics from the same Scoop.it Business account.
This feature still requires a manual billing process. To request pricing and set it up, please contact us at business@scoop.it.
Thanks for your interest in this feature.
Best,
The Scoop.it Team

this would be a great feature. having a private section accessible to only a select group of users would be awesome. could you also make it accessible through a password, so that non-scoop.it visitors could gain access without having to create an account?

Hi! when is the option available? I would love to make my topic private to share with a limited amount of people.

Would be more suitable for Public sector if this was made so.

This really needs to happen. Certainly I think it would increase business use.

Great idea. When do you plan a rollout? What is your timing? Do you have details yet?

Please make a topic private so that kids can stay on the assigned site their teacher gives them. The content would not be questionable the setting would just allow them to stay on that page and not migrate to other Scoop sites.

Hello there,
When will this option be implemented? Will it be on Pro version too? Cheers. -

This is just a great move : perfect for extranets, ideal for private press-review services. We just need a convenient way of listing authorized users : ideally we would need to have an htaccess like auth system (via auth file upload), as we can't require hundreds of users to have a registered scoop.it account.
RSS has also to be put as an option if we want to hide headlines from public sight - replaced by any other secured system like private twitter account publishing.

yes - that would be very useful for internal research purposes, along with exporting topics & related articles as documents or pdfs for offline use, printing etc...

Explain what you would like me to paraphrase. Curated items have original links so publishers can add to their own website? With the scoop.it link rather than the original, does not benefit publishers as it causes multi-links for the user to get to the information.

Hi James!
Thanks for your message and your suggestions. We are indeed planning to implement a private topic option in the upcoming premium version of Scoop.it. As for the other part of your suggestion, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you please precise/rephrase?
Regards,
Cindy

+1 Very cool idea. Also, many creative companies/digital agencies would find this extremely beneficial for research internally.
